Junior Livestock Department Rules

8 - 21 years of age or in 3rd grade on or before September 1 of previous year

If Class filled to Capacity - Up to Board of Directors for any exception

Group Placings are not permitted

Animal must be property of Child Showing - partnership registration is NOT ACCEPTABLE

Showing in Open & Junior Shows -
If animals are shown in both classes, must be shown by same person
Exhibitors may assist in herd or flock during judging process only by other children who meet age requirements

ENTRY, FEES, LIMITATION OF ENTRIES

Limited one entry under one class number (except Department H-1, H-3, H-5)
Granted show two animals in next higher weight - provided prior entry had been made
H-1 Steers
H-3 Market Lambs
H-5 Market Gilts and Market Barrows

EXHIBITOR PASS

All exhibitors in Open and Junior Departments are required to purchase Exhibitor’s Pass with Entry Form. Pass is for Admission each day of Entering Fair. Transfer of passes from one person to another is against rules; any violation will act as forfeiture of all rights and privileges during the Fair.

Open Show -
Must purchase Exhibitor’s 5 Day Pass

Junior Show -
Choice of purchasing Exhibitor’s 2 or 5 Day Pass

BREEDING STOCK

No exhibitor will be permitted to enter more than two breeds in breeding stock classes

REGISTRATION PAPERS

Registration papers are required for All Purebred Livestock and must be made available for inspection and remain in Exhibitors' possession for duration of fair with child's name on ALL animals where papers are required.

CERTIFICATES

Swine - Certificate of Vaccination - approved by state veterinarians

Cattle - Certificate of Tubercular Test - approved by state veterinarians

Breeding Cattle - Certificate of Bang’s Test - approved by state veterinarians

Health certificate on all sheep and goats, approved by state veterinarians

Flocks - USDA flock testing report or NPIP Certificate

JUDGING

All owners need to be the one showing their animal, if an exception will be allowed - must contact Superintendent immediately. If Junior Show, must be a child who meets the age requirements.

SHOWMANSHIP

Pee-Wee Showmanship - under 8 years of age as of September 1st of the previous year's fair - listed under the open shows. CANNOT show in the Junior Show do State of Illinois age restrictions

Novice - 8 to 10 years of age as of September 1st of the previous year's fair        

Junior - 11 to 14 years of age as of September 1st of the previous year's fair        

Senior - 15 to 21 years of age as of September 1st of the previous year's fair           

    If Wins Showmanship - ineligible in their age classification

    Junior Showmanship winners will be eligible to compete for Senior Showmanship the following year
